Listening to the soulful tones of 21 year old Cali, you could be forgiven for mistaking this young Lady from Seattle for a singer from a bygone era as she breathes character and expression into every phrase and every note she sings.
A trained Jazz musician, Cali fuses her skills with her passion for soul and hiphop, drawing inspiration from such greats such as Billie Holliday, Ella Fitzgerald, Shirley Bassey, Sam Cooke and even Lauryn Hill.
At the tender age of 11 Cali's passion for Soul music was ignited when her father introduced her to music by Dusty Springfield. Completely enthralled by Dusty's voice and music, Cali set her mind to being a singer and entertainer.
A chance meeting with Super Soul music arranger/Producer Misreid at Legacy Studios in New york in 2009 was the start of a musical Journey for Cali that is sure to be noted. Together the pair formed a sound legacy reminiscent of both their classic Jazz and Soul backgrounds.
The first offering from the project is''Your's Always'', a soul ballad in which Cali passionately delivers a compelling story dressed by signatory guitar sounds reminiscent of the classic 1950s/60's era and introducing her audience to the framework of sounds, classic songwriting and arrangements that threads through her album.
