CORNERSTONE
Austria may be known as the classical music capital of the world, but make no mistake, Cornerstone is here to rock. The band, comprised of Patricia Hillinger (Vocals), Michael Wachelhofer (Bass, Keyboards, Vocals), Steve Wachelhofer (Guitar, Vocals) and Mike Pawlowitsch (Drums, Percussions) signed to the US based label ATOM Records in 2008 and that same year released their debut album "Head Over Heels". After the CD release, the band did numerous tours of Europe and America. Cornerstone was able to do a mixture of headlining club shows and sharing larger stages with acts such as John Waite (Babys, Bad English), Iron Maiden's Dennis Stratton, Ted Poley from Danger, Danger and American singer/songwriter Jeffrey Gaines, just to name a few. They also participated in the UK based Z Rock Festival in 2009. Some of the songs from "Head Over Heels" were included in the motion-picture soundtrack for the film "Little Alien", which was shown in cinema and will be on television in the near future. Cornerstone won the "Next Big Thing Contest", sponsored by Alternative Addiction, in March 2008 and had a No. 1 hit on Chungaradio Statesides.
The press has been extremely favorable to the band's blend of 80's rock, mixed with the harder edge of today's alternative rock sounds. Cornerstone is a modern rock band, but they have an undercurrent of the 80's in their music. Reviews and interviews with the band have been published in mags like Powerplay, Fireworks & Classic Rock Magazine. The band has also appeared on numerous UK-Radio programs such as The Steve Price Show. In summer of 2011, Cornerstone is once again working with ATOM on their sophomore effort, "Somewhere in America". The new CD has been first released in Europe, as the band will do several shows in Austria, the surrounding countries and in the UK, where Cornerstone performed with New Model Army, The Quireboys and other well-known acts. Hopefully, if schedules can be ironed out, the band will return for additional concerts "somewhere in America".
