Yemen suspicious of Somali refugees

Somali refugees fleeing to Yemen to escape the conflict in their own country are being treated with suspicion by the Yemeni government, which fears that al-Qaeda infiltrators may be among the new arrivals.

Many of the refugees have been confined to camps.

The move follows threats by Somalia's al-Shabab to send fighters to aid the Yemen-based al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.

Al Jazeera's Mohamed Vall reports from the port city of Aden where migrants from the Horn of Africa are facing harsh new living conditions. (Jan 23, 2010)
