Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Marble Madness, an arcade game from Atari Games and Midway. Marble Madness is one of the most interesting arcade games of all-time, a stylized hybrid that's 40 percent platformer, 40 percent racer...and 20 percent pull-your-hair-out-of-your-head. Since the original was released in 1984, Marble Madness has rolled onto countless platforms, becoming one of Atari's most beloved classics in the process. Marble Madness was designed by Mark Cerny, an 18-year-old game designer who worked at Atari. According to Cerny, it was an idea inspired by miniature golf. He was intrigued by the concept of a contoured playing field that affected the movement of a ball and, more specifically, how that concept might work in a video game. This video review features video gameplay footage of the arcade game Marble Madness and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's Derek.
