Shaan Stevens | Guinness Gallagher
Shaan Stevens is the Chief Executive of Guinness Gallagher International Ltd, the international consulting arm of the Guinness Gallagher group of companies. A former Pro Chancellor of Victoria University and an associate Member of the New Zealand Commerce Commission overseeing the commercial legal and regulatory framework in New Zealand, Shaan has a wealth of legal and regulatory experience. He leads the international regulatory assignments undertaken by the firm, as well as supporting our team of highly specialised consultants across all disciplines.
As a former Associate Commissioner on the Commerce Commission, Shaan led the enquiries into the gas and electricity markets and the telecommunications reviews. His experience on the Commerce Commission and his international work for the World Bank, Asia Development Bank and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in developing ICT, telecommunication and broadband policy for the Governments of Mongolia, Cambodia and Indonesia provides him a good insight into infrastructure initiatives in New Zealand and worldwide.
A strong advocate for closer relations between countries in the South Pacific, Shaan has led a number of World Bank and ADB initiatives in the region. A Māori New Zealander of Ngati Porou, Ngati Kahungunu and Ngati Rauwkawa descent, Shaan previously led the Guinness Gallagher Corporate Advisory Ltd Māori practice team advising both Māori and corporates on Māori related issues. He has also led a number of its Māori economic initiatives, and leadership and governance training, negotiating a groundbreaking partnership agreement with the prestigious Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy for post graduate training for leading Māori scholars in co-joint Harvard and Kennedy School of Government programs.
