Unsupervised Children at First Baptist Church St Petersburg

Earlier today, we experienced a Disastrous Occurrence at First Baptist Church St Petersburg which was Life Changing to say the least. Though the Worship & Sermon delivered were among the best we've experienced in years, it was the Children's Ministry that completely ruined our return to First Baptist Church St Petersburg.

Led by Ministry Coordinator Amanda Clark, FBC St Pete's Children Ministry proved itself unsuitable and down right unreliable for our 3 young daughters, ages 7, 5 and 3 when we noticed wide open, unattended doors in a large room where adults and children roamed unsupervised, and undocumented.

Only a few steps away from an elevator and staircase, easily accessible without identification or documentation, our 7 year old daughter walked out of the room where we dropped her off an hour earlier.

When approached and informed of incident, Amanda Clark, the Ministry coordinator shared with us the volunteer appointed to the main access door "must have left early," and that she herself, the ministry leader could not monitor the front access gateway door because she "was busy taking pictures."

When Amanda Clark realized her comments were being written down verbatim, she went of the offensive and blamed the missing volunteer, then blamed her photographic responsibilities and finally, our tone as concerned parents.

My advice for anyone researching a church in Tampa or St Petersburg, FL is this: If you have kids, love them and want to keep them safe, stay away from FBC St Pete!!!

Do lift up Ministry Leader Amanda Clark in your prayers, as she laughed and refused to let us know how we could pray for her when prompted to do so as we left the room today...

Pastor Draughon's teaching, though very powerful can be streamed online where your Children's safety is not a concern. And as for Worship, what can I say... Pastor Alberto's gift will be missed!
