In the 1990s, Mitte was the trendy district of choice in Berlin. Back then, the Tacheles arts center was at the center of a thriving alternative arts scene. Now many in the art community are mourning its closure. But the end of an era was long in coming, and the hippest of the hip have long since moved on to other, edgier districts.
