Emergency vehicles rush to the scene of an explosion in the Saudi capital Riyadh that killed 22 people and injured over 100 on Thursday.

A fuel truck had crashed into an overpass, triggering the explosion that caused the collapse of a nearby industrial building.

The building, several storeys high, was almost levelled by the blast, with only one corner left standing.

Several adjacent buildings were left damaged as well.

Firefighting services worked to douse the flames as onlookers gathered.

The strength of the explosion wrecked several cars and a bus at a bridge opposite the site.

Over a hundred emergency personnel were combing the wreckage on the overpass and searching for victims in the rubble of the building.
