SASKWATCH

The Melbourne based 9 piece Saskwatch are a band in demand. Hand-picked for a run of shows at Edinburgh's Fringe Festival throughout August 2012 , the engagement was yet another impressive notch on the bedpost of what has been an enviable 2012 to date.

Having previously self-released two 7 inch records, Saskwatch signed to Melbourne indie Northside Records in May for the release of 7 inch single Your Love. Just two months later they backed this up with the release of their début LP, Leave It All Behind. Taking cues from the likes of James Brown and Aretha Franklin, as well as New Yorks bangin' modern soul scene (Sharon Jones, Charles Bradley et al); Saskwatch combine said cues and bring their own love, grit and sweat to the fore, all in high-fidelity, over 12 new tracks. Replete with the sweetest jams and heavy steppin' funk joints, Leave It All Behind, ticks all the boxes and looks fantastic doing it. Nkechi Anele's vocals are world class, as is Liam McGorry's song writing.

The run is the latest in a list of achievements that includes appearances at Golden Plains Sixxx & The Falls Music & Arts Festival as well as support slots for luminaries Hypnotic Brass Ensemble and former James Brown and Parliament saxophonist - Maceo Parker, as well as Rock 'n Roll Hall of Famers Earth, Wind & Fire.

You will also be able to catch Saskwatch at their first national tour this September/October, as well as at appearances at Meredith Music and Pyramid Rock Festivals.

"Glorious" -- Gabriel Hubert (Hypnotic Brass Ensemble)

"Brilliant" -- Daniel Merriweather

"Wow, this girl can wail. And I say that with the utmost respect. This is good time sunny soul, the kind made famous by Motown acts like The Supremes...." -- Dan Buhagiar (triple j)
