Sony teases and dates PlayStation 4 announcement, Bethesda posts job listing for next-generation title, and Naughty Dog hypes “big” Uncharted 3 multiplayer news, THIS IS NICK’S GAMING VIEW!
Hello everyone and welcome to Nick’s Gaming View, you are here with your host, Nick McCandless. Sony has taken the industry within its arms by announcing that on February 20th, they will be hosting an event in New York titled ‘See the Future’. To coincide with the announcement of the event, Sony released a video teasing their announcement and while nothing is confirmed, come on, we knew the PlayStation 4 announcement was coming sometime soon and if you examine the trailer closely, you will see hints at a shape that seems to match that of a video game console. Why announce now rather than at E3 2013? Simple. Why share publicity with Microsoft when they can have the entire industry focused on them leading up to E3 2013? It’s genius and as a huge PlayStation fan myself, to say I am stoked for February 20th is a massive understatement.
Speaking on next-generation consoles, Bethesda has published a job listing for a ‘Future Generation Console Programmer’ who is able to “work on cutting-edge technology for an unannounced game on future-generation consoles”. Knowing Bethesda, development of the next release in The Elder Scrolls series is likely, especially with the time and resources required for such release utilizing a new engine for the next-generation consoles.
Wrapping up Nick’s Gaming View, despite all of the attention around Sony’s next platform, Naughty Dog is not letting go of Uncharted 3 just yet as they have announced that within a month, they will be announcing “big Uncharted 3 Multiplayer News”. As a huge Uncharted fan and supporter of Naughty Dog, it’s nice to see the studio continuing to support the award winning release more than a year after its launch; hopefully we can expect to see Nathan Drake evolve onto the next PlayStation once its in the hands of consumers, but not forgetting the audience who made the Uncharted franchise the successful series it is, deserves much respect.
