"Do or do not. There is no try."

Spoken by Yoda to Luke Skywalker in the 1980 film Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. Luke is trying to lift his X-wing fighter out of the swamp on Dagobah, but he is struggling. Yoda tells him that he must not "try" to lift the fighter, but simply do it. He explains that "trying" implies that there is a chance of failure, and that if Luke believes he might fail, then he will.

The quote has been interpreted in many different ways, but its core message is that if you want to achieve something, you must believe in yourself and commit to taking action. There is no such thing as "trying" to do something; you either do it or you don't.
