The fire that has the city of Dubai terrified on New Year’s Eve is one for the record books. It’s unclear how the fire started at the hotel, which also has residencies, and is located very close to the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building at 903 yards, reports the New York Post. One witness claims an explosion was heard before the fire started, though that has yet to be verified by officials. The witness, Jaqueline Hurtado, a correspondent for CNN, described the sound as a “loud pop.”

A moment later the person taking the video pans to the building, which is completely engulfed in flames from the ground up. As expected, sirens can be heard echoing through the sky as authorities rush towards the fire.
