Poland's victory over Albania in the 2022 Gryp I European Cup preliminary match was colored with bottles thrown by local supporters at the Arena Kombetare Albania stadium, Wednesday (13/10/2021).

In the match that Poland won with a score of 10, the match was stopped for 20 minutes because of the behavior of supporters throwing bottles and other objects at guests.

It all started after Karol Swiderski gave Poland the lead with 13 minutes of regulation time remaining. At the time, their celebrations were greeted with plastic bottles thrown from the stands, forcing the players to leave the pitch.

Before the incident that resulted in a long delay, Polish midfielder Piotr Zielinski was also targeted by mobs. As the match resumed, Poland's 10 score remained unchanged.

They are now second in Group I behind England on 17 points, two points behind Albania in third place.

After this goal interview, the bottles were full of theft so it was a bit dangerous, but we got up and finished the game," Poland captain Robert Lewandowski told the BBC on Wednesday.

Albania, who are looking to reach the World Cup finals for the first time, will travel to Wembley to face England next month, before ending a home campaign against Andorra.

Poland, three points behind Gareth Southgate's side, will travel to Andorra before hosting Hungary in November for their final two qualifying matches.
