Composed in January 1865, the Waltzes, Op. 39 are dedicated to Dr. Eduard Hanslick (1825-1904), a famous Viennese music critic who championed the music of Schumann and Brahms and was pleased to find, "no narcissistic affectation" in Brahms' piano music.
Although a waltz, this piece is commonly associated as being a lullaby along with Brahms' other works.

It has also featured in the 2013 film "Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters ", 2005 film "The Brothers Grimm"

Point Classics brings you the '30 Second Classics' series. A collection of two hundred Classical works, edited into 30 second excerpts, showcasing the most recognisable and famous parts.
