Ludwig van Beethoven composed Bagatelle No. 25 in A minor which was only published forty years after his death in 1867. It is uncertain who "Elise" was and has been suggested to be in reference to Therese Malfatti larenzo zu Dezza, one of his students to whom he proposed in 1810. The original work may have been named "Für Therese."
'Für Elise' can be heard in the soundtrack for the 2010 film, 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1' and 2012's "Django Unchained."

The Nocturnes, Op. 9 are a set of three nocturnes written in between 1830 and 1832 and dedicated to Madame Camille Pleyel, a French virtuoso pianist, publisher, and owner of Signature Pleyel pianos. This nocturne is obscure and rarely performed. It is an exercise in lyricism and delicacy. Its development is paradoxical in its torrential gracefulness. It was composed in 1830/1832 and published in 1833; it is also dedicated to Marie Pleyel, a lovely pianist of the period
Although it has remained in the shadow of its more famous companions, many feel that the Nocturne in B-flat major, Op.9, No.3 is the finest of the group.
