Today was a special day for our family, we finalized the adoption of our daughters Tatiana and Alona.
My wife Mary and I adopted these sisters from an orphanage in Ukraine four years ago but it took us this long to get it all finalized here in the United States.
It got me thinking that most of the time we talk about making money…
Now, money is important but that’s not our real purpose.
We don’t do everything that we do just for money and more money.
Money is simply a vehicle to help us accomplish the things in life that are important to us.
For us that includes serving the needy around our community and around the world.
We started going to Ukraine in 2003 and serving children in the orphanages.
We participated in many worthy projects over the years.
* Built toilets to replace old outhouses.
* Renovated old broken-down showers and added hot water (happy kids!)
* Installed septic treatment systems.
* Created educational programs.
* Supported families…
* Participated in summer camp programs.
* Supported the Rotary Club in Ukraine
And more...
I guess I could add adopting two wonderful teenagers to the list.
But none of this was about money.
This is our purpose…
This is why we chose to start a second career in the first place.
Why we worked to build a second income…
We knew that the day we replaced our 9-5 job income, we would be free.
Financially free..
And even more importantly we would have TIME FREEDOM.
Never again will we need to “request a day off”
Beg for vacation days during the week or kids are out of school.
Trade time with our families for a measly paycheck.
What is your purpose?
What is your BIG Why?
What do you want to accomplish on this earth during your lifetime?
It’s not too late to start.
