Low turnout in Warsaw mayor vote spares PM major set back

A referendum to remove the Mayor of Warsaw from office appears to have failed to attract enough votes to make it valid.

According to exit polls the turnout in the recall referendum was 27.2 percent, below the minimum threshold of 29 percent.

If confirmed, it means Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz who is a close ally of Prime Minister Donald Tusk will stay in her job.
