One of the most versatile and durable of modern pianists. An outstanding accompanist of singers, as evidenced by his years backing Ella Fitzgerald ('48--'53). Recorded voluminously as a leader and with such major figures as Coleman Hawkins, Wes Montgomery, Charlie Parker, and Ben Webster. Continued recording significant music well into his seventies
Hein van de Geyn was born in 1956 in Holland. He played music from a very early age on. He was classically trained by studying the violin for 15 years. On the side Hein played guitar and played Pop and the Blues. In his late teens he picked up the bass-guitar and became interested in Jazz.
Idris Muhammad was born on November 13,1939, and began playing the drums at age 8 in his native New Orleans. By the time he was 16, he was performing in jazz bands. Muhammad became known as one of the most innovative drummers in soul music of the 1960's
