Tres Moutarde - Carling Family 1993
Skill, strength and of course talent. I have only one recording of this tune in this tempo by Wilbur deParis and his New New Orleans Jazz Band, recorded in the mid fifties. These were experienced musicians who had careers behind them with Duke Ellington and similar high quality groups.
In my music career I never attempted this “piece de resistance” and I can’t recall any other band playing this tune during some of the more than 200 jazz festivals I played in.
But yes, here are the Carlings doing it full blast including all the keychanges.
Filmclip is from a jazz concert in Vasteras Sweden.
Hans trumpet, Max clarinet, Gumhild trombone, Gerd piano, Aina banjo and Ulf drums
