I reposted this video because of a text error. This is a particularly unusual recording. It features the French poet, novelist, dramatist, designer, playwright, artist and filmmaker Cocteau reciting one of his poems, accompanied by an orchestra led by Dan Parrish. He was a jazz pianist and composer about whom I unfortunately found hardly any information. At some point he formed part of Wilbur Sweatman's Jazz Orchestra and of the Mitchell's Jazz Kings. This amazing record, on which we hear one of Parrish's own works, was made in 1929.
