Chubby Checker, born Ernest Evans in 1941 is best known as the exponent
of the Twist craze of the early 60's. His version of 'The Twist' had teenagers
bopping in coffee bars and dance halls across the Globe. An extremely personable performer Checker was able to transfer this charisma to the teens and soon other dances accompanied by a record were 'Pony Time'
and 'The Fly', derivations of the Twist. Chubby for decades after recreated these dances for his loyal fans and managed to pick up some who were not of that era but attracted by his sheer energy and talent.
