Isfahan - Carlings 1993
At a club concert in the Cotton Club in Hamburg the Carling family play the Duke Ellingon composition Isaphan. Gerd plays melody on alto sax where Max and Gunhild fill in with some well chosen harmonies. It is amazing again how this family is able to switch effordlessly into so many musical directions. This doesn’t look like an easy piece but they play it with a flair as if they were actual members of the Ellington band. The Duke would have been proud.
