ankathie koi was born in burghausen, upperbavaria.
her career on stage started at the age of seven.
at the same time she received classes in ballet and was also a member of a children’s carl orff-music group where she was politely asked to leave, most probably because of her musical non-conformance (ad-lib was always an issue…)
in high school, her schedule was amended by violin, piano and classical singing classes (with mrs. erika peldzus-mohr) for which she received a scholarship for talented students.
in 1998 she sang one of the leads at the baroque opera „il pomo d’oro“ by antonio cesti and won the prof. barbarino music prize.
2001 can be seen as a turning point in her musical development. after a legendary performance at the bavarian state award at the cuvilliés-theatre in munich and the foundation of her first jazz band cool n’ blue it was beyond any doubt: farewell auditorium, welcome dear jazz club.
in 2003 ankathie koi was accepted at the department for vocal jazz at the anton-bruckner-private university for jazz and improvised music. those years were mainly occupied by song writing and the autodidactic learning of how to handle a guitar. bachelor’s degree 2008.
in 2009, after several journeys, she finally moved to vienna. her main teachers were agnes heginger, ali gaggl and since 2006 elfi aichinger, who also supervised her master’s degree at the university.
