PRESENTED BY TINA EDWARDS

Hailing from London having met at University, The Fresh Dixie Project are one of the UK’s most exciting and up and coming cross-over jazz artists. Their unique sound fuses elements of jazz, pop and soul and their live show has gained a strong reputation for its energy and infectiousness.

2014 saw them self-release their EP ‘Dress Pretty, Dance Ugly’ to great acclaim as well as playing various festivals and shows including Royal Albert Hall (Elgar Room), Elbjazz Festival (Hamburg, Germany), Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, WOMAD Festival, Manchester Jazz Festival and Cheltenham Jazz Festival. To round off the year the band also travelled to Malaysia to perform at the Penang Island Jazz Festival.

More recently the band have been writing and recording new music and also a number of live videos at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios.

Fresh Dixie Project are Jamie Johnson (Vocals), Michael Jarman (Sax), Ben Golding (Keys), Jamie Biles (Bass) and Mark Gilyead (Drums).

“Fresh Dixie Project's blend of energy, grooves and melodic hooks went down a storm with the PIJF crowd and looks set to enjoy greater success in the future, wherever it touches down.” Ian Patterson, All-About-Jazz.

“...these five brits are swinging in the footsteps of Jamie Cullum. The international debut of The Fresh Dixie Project is likely to be the start of a great career.” Elbjazz Festival, 2014.

“It's got an edge; there's teeth without it ever becoming punky or forced. It's got a timeless class, yet still feels fresh." One Question Music.
