Public health workers’ called a 24-hour strike on Wednesday to demand that the government comply with agreements made in 2014. After an 18-day strike last year, the government agreed to 18 points, including permanent status for part-time employees, higher salaries and an increase in personnel, yet only one point has been implemented. A number of workers also took their demands to the Ministry of Health, whose budget has been drastically reduced even as the number of patients increases. Critics of budget cuts predict that patients will lack access to medication and adequate service. Rael Mora reports from Lima for teleSUR
