'Civil court cannot review Syariah Court's decision'

Religious sensitivities came to the fore again today when the Court of Appeal ruled the High Court was right in determining it has no jurisdiction to determine the religious status of a person who had embraced Islam. Hence, the appellate court dismissed an appeal of a Hindu housewife S. Kaliammal (right) to reclaim Mount Everest climber M Moorthy's body from the Islamic religious authorities.
