The Melaka Syariah High Court on Sunday (Sept 22) granted the bail bond application by the Melaka Islamic Religious Department (JAIM) for Al-Arqam founder Ashaari Muhammad’s three sons, who were arrested during Op Global in the state.

00:00Three children of the founder of the Ban al-Arqam cult have been ordered to pay a bail bond by the Melaka Sharia High Court following the religious authorities' probe into their activities.
00:12On Sunday, Sharia Judge Muhammad Yunus Muhammad Zain set the bond at RM1,000 for each of the three brothers, aged 35, 42 and 45.
00:22The bail bond had been applied by the Melaka Islamic Religious Department against the three who are linked to the global ikhwan services and business holdings.
00:31The three are being investigated under Section 63 of the Sharia Offences Enactment for State of Melaka 1991 for allegedly insulting Islam, which carries a jail term of up to 36 months, a fine of up to RM5,000 or both upon conviction.
00:50The court also set the next mention date on October 10.
00:54Meanwhile in Seramban, two officials of a Kuala Pilah religious school suspected of being connected to GISB were also ordered to pay a bail bond by the Sharia Lower Court.
01:06The bail bond had been applied by the Negeri Sembilan Islamic Affairs Department on the chairman and the principal of a religious school or madrasah.
01:15The two are being investigated under Section 22 of the Control of Islamic Religious Schools Enactment 1996 and Section 52 of the Sharia Criminal Enactment 1992.
01:27The court issued a RM2,000 bail each and also set November 12 for mention.
01:33These suspects were detained on September 21 as part of a probe into a religious school believed to be operating without a permit in Kuala Pilah.
