Kawasaki have given their ZZR1400 a firm series of tweaks to help it combat imminent new Euro4 regulations, without losing any of its near-200bhp thrust. ZZR1400 and a ZZR1400 Performance Sport, the 2016 version uses new settings in the ECU and a revised exhaust and evaporative system to help it meets the new emission regulations without any drop in the power figures – maintaining the bike’s gut-wrenching USP. The 1441cc engine kicks out a claimed 197.4bhp without any ram-air effect, or a gnat’s earlobe over 207bhp with the full effect of ram-air.
The higher-spec Performance Sport model gets a few more upgrades to shout about. Most obvious are the new Brembo M50 monobloc brake calipers – straight off the new-for-2016 ZX-10R revealed in MCN last week – combined with a Brembo radial- master cylinder and stainless steel brake lines. With a kerb mass of 269kg (1kg more than the base model) and 200-odd bhp on tap, there’s a lot to be said for some serious anchors.
