United States: IACHR Hears Ayotzinapa Case

Independent experts testified before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) in Washington DC, on the level of State involvement in the forced disappearance of 43 Ayotzinapa students on September 26, 2014, noting the presence of local, state and federal police and the Mexican Army at the scene. The investigation will now be carried out by the Human Rights Office of the Attorney General’s Office instead of the Organized Crime Office, while the government says that military officials can only be questioned in writing and without their physical presence.
