TRENTON, NEW JERSEY — One 13-year-old boy's mom got really ticked off at an eighth grade writing assignment given to students at Myron L. Powell Elementary School when she saw it asked her son to respond to a hypothetical situation involving a night of heavy drinking, a one night stand with a stranger, and later finding out that they had contracted herpes.

Amy Loper, the student's mother told WCAU-TV: "It's as unbelievable now as the first 30 times I read it," adding: "This is vulgarity at the utmost."
Loper contacted the school's superintendent who responded by telling her that the class was part of the core curriculum and the writing was part of an assignment related to the class reading the book "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens," which is marketed as a self-esteem and success guide for teens, NBC reported.
"She said I could opt him out of sex education if I wanted, but I wanted to opt him out of language arts instead," Loper told WCAU-TV.
According to the Associated Press, the boy did not actually do the assignment.
