Florida cop fired and charged for slamming back-talking teen to the ground

KISSIMMEE, FLORIDA — Surveillance video of a cop slamming a child to the ground has been released following his termination.

On the morning of May 8th, a 13-year-old boy and his mother walked into the child’s school lobby, clearly in a heated argument. Witnessing the exchange, a school administrator called police to help cool down the situation. That’s when Officer Mario Badia steps in and tries to drop some authority on the teen, scolding him for talking back to his mother. Badia claims the kid responded with profanities, which then led him to use force on the 84-pound teenager.

As seen in the video, the two of them start to get into it. Badia claims he tried to grab the kid’s chin so as to force him to listen. Then, Badia pushes the teen around a bit, really revealing the level of bully tactics Badia tried to use.

In one swift move he gets dropped to the ground, and arm-barred by the cop, held down for 42 seconds in what’s known as a “torque” hold.

The Kissimmee Police Department has since fired Badia for his use of excessive force. He is set to be in court on December 7th on charges of cruelty against a child.
