'Grizzly Adams' star Dan Haggerty dies at 74

Dan Haggerty, who starred in the 1970s TV series about a rugged and shaggy character living in the wilderness with his grizzly bear pal, has died.
His friend and manager of 20 years, Terry Bomar, confirmed Haggerty died early Friday in a hospital in Burbank, Calif., surrounded by his family.
Haggerty will be remembered especially as a profusely bearded actor in an unusual TV series, The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams , about an 1850s-era farmer named James Adams who is accused of a crime he didn't commit and flees into a mountain wilderness.
Haggerty was the fourth celebrity to die of cancer this week, including rock star David Bowie on Sunday in New York; British actor Alan Rickman on Thursday in London; and singer Céline Dion's husband René Angélil on Thursday in Las Vegas.
