Our guest Nadia Murad, a 21-year-old Yazidi woman, was held as a sex slave for three months by Islamic State (IS) group jihadists in northern Iraq. She managed to escape her captors and has now found refuge in Germany. The young woman recalls her horrific experience at the hands of the jihadists.
Survivor Nadia Murad denounces the genocide against the Yazidi minority. She recalls how in August 2014, IS group jihadists entered her village in northern Iraq and killed all the men. Six of her brothers were murdered, as well as her mother. Like thousands of other women, Nadia was sold as a sex slave.
Three months later, Nadia managed to escape and has now found refuge in Germany, She urges the world to do more about the plight of her community and help the thousands of women still held as slaves by the IS group jihadists. "These criminals must be brought to justice", she told FRANCE 24's Cyril Vanier.
