Roads in PoK Turn Deadly As Authorities Fail To Repair

Chanari (PoK), Apr 26: Anxiety, fear and hopelessness loom large in the air of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir or PoK. The residents of Chanari region have been witness to several deadly accidents in the area due to the poor condition of roads. However, they have received little help from the government. The route from Chanari to Gujar Bandi in PoK passes through many mountain trenches, dangerous curves and with a river flowing just below the road. But, unfortunately, the local administration and the Pakistan government have not constructed parapets throughout the route or signboards depicting dangerous mark, reflectors and other safety measures. The government's ignorance has resulted in several road accidents. So far, around 31 people have lost their lives. With no help from the administration, locals have decided to stop using the route for their own safety. In the past too, several pleas to improve civic amenities in PoK fell on the deaf ears of the Pakistan government. People are losing their lives due to negligence and irresponsible attitude of the authorities and the government has completely turned a blind eye to it.
