Caravan – Carling Big Band 2006
The youngest member of the Carling family is not only a fantastic drummer but also a man withincredible perception and it seems continuously full of new, original and funny ideas. In the band’s development period I have seen several films of Ulf playing Caravan, but every time something new comes around.
Unfortunately my youtube site restricts me to a maximum of 10 minutes and I had to chop the first minute off this presentation.
Few drummers have seen the 1951 clip of drummer Barrett Deems who interrupts his solo by leaving the drumset and continues on a chair upfront stage and returns back to his drumset while playing on the floor. About a year ago I posted this on youtube as well.

In the seventies Steve Tattersal, our Climax Jazz Band’s drummer would showcase this act in his drumsole as well. I did not know where it originated from at that time, but it is certainly good to see that Ulf has included this in his own original way as well.
