Dealing with Mental Illness/Double Minded Spirit

This week we'll take a look at the treatment of mental health and the field of psychology/psychiatry in relation to what it says in scripture. Psyche: means mind/soul. Psychology is the study of the soul and psychiatry the treatment of the soul/mind with medicine. The problem is that the mind and brain are different. The mind is intangible and you can't treat it with natural means, while the brain can be studied scientifically. The way to treat the mind/soul is not through drugs or natural means, but spiritually. Like skeptics of modern psychiatry's approach to mental illness with the DSM5 like Dr. Thomas Schatz and Dr. William Glasser I view it as more of issue of morals/behavior than a mental one like a regular disease that effects the body. However, I don't deny there aren't those who suffer from brain damage from birth defects, accidents or a neurological condition. But when it comes to certain illnesses many mirror symptoms of demonic possession/oppression and that is where spiritual warfare is needed. For instance, schizophrenia. Shizo=split phrenia-mind so split mind, which in the Bible is referred to as double minded 1 James 6-8. 30% of Y'shua's ministry dealt with deliverance from unclean spirits. I'll address the common attributes of a double minded spirit, how it comes to be, and how to overcome it through Christ.
