After My Laughter Came Tears was recorded at Liederkranz Hall in New York January 1928. The 78 was released as Victor 21219 and Electrola EG839 in Europe. The Virginians was a pseudonym for the Victor Orchestra and the director of the Virginians was Nat Shilkret, a Victor Talking Machine Co. executive whose official title was Director of Light Music. Shilkret made 1000s of records at Victor, possibly more than anyone else in history. His record sales have been estimated at 50 million plus. He also made over 3000 radio broadcasts from 1925 to 1941. His radio sponsors were basically a list of the top Fortune 100 companies.
