Jurong Bird Park

Jurong Bird Park is one of the famous tourist attractions of Singapore. This haven for a wide variety of colourful feathered species is located on the western slope of the Jurong Hill. The park is spread across an area of 202,000 sq. meters.

This landscaped park has more than nine thousand birds, covering over six hundred species. Of these 29 species of birds are endangered. Howsoever fascinated may you get by the ambience of colours and chirping, the flock of 1001 flamingoes is not to be missed. All total, Jurong Bird Park houses four aviaries, which include the world’s largest walk-in aviary with the tallest man-made waterfall. Though the park has birds of all kinds, but it specializes in birds from South-east Asia.

The park is famous for its entertainment shows and exhibits involving the feathered kind. The Birds n Buddies Show, the Penguin Parade in an artificial mini-Antarctic setting, and the Birds of Prey Show, are the chief attractions of this park, which happens to be the largest bird park in the world in terms of number of birds, and the second largest bird park in the world in terms of area. Also take a trip on the air-conditioned monorail called the ‘Panorail.’ This short journey offers an overview of the complete park along with the running commentary, which points out the main attractions of the park. It’s the world’s only rail system, that chugs through an aviary.
