SYDNEY — A persistent personal trainer published a video to Facebook telling the world of how she’d planned to change the life of a homeless man. In response, the Internet is flaming her for forcing her “goodness” on the man and her attempt at humblebragging about it.

In the six-minute video, Chelcie Vera Cookson told the story of how she was leaving her volunteer shift at a homeless food shelter when she noticed the homeless man, Steven, sitting outside. She asked him how he ended up on the streets and what he was doing to get off them. Steven just wanted to be left alone, but Chelcie was determined to figure out how to help this hapless soul.

After going home to meditate, she realized “exercise” was what was going to dig him out of the rut of his life. Thrilled with her epiphany, she went looking for Steven to tell him how she was going to turn his life around.

When she did tell Steven, he turned her down five times, saying he was overweight and tired. But the poor guy was no match for the modern day self-anointed saint named Chelcie, who is hellbent on taking Steven to the gym this week.

The top comment on Chelcie’s Facebook wall was by user Jim Paris, who wrote, “Looks like a self licking ice cream after her 5 seconds of fame. The gym isn’t going to put food in his belly. Is business a bit slow??”
