Pilots faced cyclone-strength wind gusts as they landed at Melbourne Airport on Sunday, October 9.
The approach to Runway 34 by various airlines was captured on camera during intense storm conditions, affecting much of the state across the weekend, sending down trees and causing power cuts.
The footage shows a Boeing 737-800, an Airbus A320-200 and a Dash 8 Q400 land on the tarmac, among others.“It’s the skill of the pilots that allowed the planes to land safely in pretty bad conditions,” the uploader wrote.
At about 11.50am on Sunday, the tail of a Singapore Airlines cargo plane struck the tarmac while taking off in high winds and the subsequent runway closure led to major delays. Credit: YouTube/Schony747
