More than 800 migrants have been brought ashore at Catania port in Eastern Sicily after being rescued in the Mediterranean Sea.
They were picked up in 16 different operations, from boats and dinghies.

Sunday’s arrivals came after more than two thousand other migrants were rescued in the Mediterranean on Saturday.
Ten bodies were also recovered.
It is estimated that more than 4,200 people have died or disappeared trying to cross the water from North Africa this year.

Germany wants to stop migrants from reaching Europe’s Mediterranean cost by picking them up at sea and returning them to Africa, according to a report in a German newspaper.
In what would be a huge shift for the country, the interior ministry is quoted as saying the EU should adopt an Australian-style system – and migrants processed at camps in third countries.
