NEW YORK — A bull escaped from a Queens slaughterhouse on Tuesday and led cops from the New York Police Department on an hours-long chase.

The bull made a break for it when the butchers were moving a large group of cows, reported CBS New York, citing a butcher. The animal may’ve been set off by a noise and escaped through the slaughterhouse fence.

The cops tried to tranquilize the bull with darts, but to no avail and they were soon led on a merry chase around Queens. Hours later they cornered the terrified animal in a backyard where they sedated him using a syringe laced with a stronger drug, reported CBS New York.

Unfortunately, the bull died while authorities were transporting it to a local animal shelter.
