EAST JAVA, INDONESIA — It was just a month ago that we brought you the story of an young man in Indonesia marrying someone old enough to be his grandmother. And it seems to becoming a trend in the country. Last week saw the marriage of a 24-year-old fella to a lady 67-years-young in east Java.

Rokim tied the knot with his sweetheart Tampi in the small town of Madiun on the evening of March 15.

But not without protest. When the news spread, a surprising number of netizens accused the young buck of being a gold-digger, for why else would someone his age marry a widow?

But, in truth, Tampi is not a wealthy woman. She’s a massage therapist whose earnings are meagre.

What’s more, Rokim has known Tampi since he was a lad of just 16. After long days of work, he’d regularly visit Tampi for a massage.

Rokim says the pair developed a bond and he was saddened by the thought Tampi might have to live out her days alone, devoid of companionship. And so, he decided it felt right to take her as his wife.

And Rokim says while he’s aware their relationship is unusual, he’s not the least bit ashamed of marrying an older woman.

What do you think? Is there such a thing as too big of an age gap in love?
