SOUTH SULAWESI, INDONESIA — Love is blind. It’s also hard of hearing and rather expensive - that’s the message you might easily take away from this story of a 70-year-old man who has married a college student 45 years his junior. The kicker? This gentleman offered a dowry equivalent to more than $100,000 to lock down his lady.
The young woman is Andi Fitri, a lass from an affluent family in Indonesia’s South Sulawesi. Her sweetheart is Tajuddin Kammisi, the former vice-mayor of a town in the province.
And on April 22, the pair tied the knot at the bride's family home
But as soon as the internet caught wind of the news, the trolls swarmed in, swiftly delivering the verdict that Andi is a gold-digger!
You see, before young Fitri and her family agreed to the marriage, Tajuddin pledged 11 grand in cash, 200 grams of gold, a brand new Honda and a sweet house in the city Makassar.
The bride’s family says they never pressured Andi to marry in exchange for all the sweet loot, and that these and other gifts all came straight from the heart of sweet, old Tajuddin. Well, whatever, best of luck to them both.
One more thing before we sign off: we do think it’s a little harsh to judge this young woman for accepting cash and gifts, while giving the old codger a free pass. Let us know what you think in the comments.
