Dhapate is a type of Maharashtrian thalipeeth prepared from wheat flour, jowar flour and gram flour. The flours are then mixed with curd, spices and chopped onion. Dhapate is an easy, healthy and quick breakfast recipe.
Ingredients:
2 Cups Jowar Flour (Sorghum)
1 Cup Wheat Flour
1/2 Cup Gram Flour
10-12 Garlic Cloves, crushed
1 Onion, chopped
1 tsp Carom Seeds
1 tsp Sesame Seeds
1 tsp Red Chilli Powder
1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
1 Cup Curd
Water, as required
Salt to taste
Coriander Leaves
Oil
Method:
- In a large bowl add jowar flour, wheat flour, gram flour, crushed garlic, chopped onion, carom seeds, sesame seeds, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt and coriander leaves. Mix well.
- Then add curd and again mix well.
- Add water as required and make a soft dough.
- Add little oil and keep the dough aside for 5 minutes.
- Heat some oil on a flat pan.
- Make small portions of the dough and flatten them out on a plastic sheet. Apply little water to your hands if the dough is sticky.
- Make medium size dhapate and put them on hot pan.
- Let them cook till golden brown. Add more oil if required.
- Dhapate are ready to be served. They taste best with pickle & curd.
