100,000+ civil servants sacked in Turkey purge

More than 100,000 civil servants have been sacked in Turkey, and another 47,000 people arrested - all alleged supporters of the US-based preacher Fethullah Gulen - since a state of emergency was imposed in the wake of the failed coup last July. From one day to the next, these people have found themselves without work, a situation that is all the more dire in the country's Kurdish south east, which is especially affected by the purge.
