The 2016 presidential election changed Jackson Faw. Faw, 57, had been a lifelong Republican, casting his first vote for Ronald Reagan and supporting John Kasich in the 2016 primaries. But Trump’s victory along with a move to a lower-income neighborhood led Faw to abandon his party. Mic followed Jackson in the days leading up to, and after, the special election to understand what led him to change his mind and how his story sheds light on the current political climate in the U.S.
