Visitors to Panama City Beach in Florida banded together to help save a group of drowning people caught in a rip tide on July 9.Images shared to Facebook by witness Yasmin Trabal show how beach-goers formed a “human chain” in order to reach the people in danger, including a family with children.Another Facebook post, shared by Jessica Mae Simmons, explains the story in detail. Simmons – who writes that she is a strong swimmer – and her husband, Derek, took part in the rescue mission at the front of the chain. Her post documents how they used a boogie board to help get the victims to safety, and thanks the anonymous surfer who helped save two people with a surfboard. Her post also claims the police on the scene offered very little help throughout the situation. Credit: Facebook/Yasmin Trabal via Storyful
