Murderer Joe O’Reilly will move abroad with his mistress when he is released from prison, his brother has revealed.
Derek O’Reilly said advertising executive Nikki Pelley is still madly in love with his brother.
‘Nikki obviously loves Joe,’ said Derek. ‘She is still standing by him, she believes in him, she believes in his innocence.
‘Nikki is not a stupid woman, she is a very bright, intelligent woman. I don’t think any woman would be with anybody if they thought they were capable of doing what Joe has been convicted of.’
Joe O’Reilly, 39, is serving a life sentence for the brutal murder of his wife Rachel, who was battered to death at her home in The Naul, north Dublin in October 2004.
Derek, 41, believes his brother is innocent and will argue his case on the TV3 documentary series ‘Behind the Crime: The Untold Stories’ which airs tomorrow at 9pm.
In the unedited version of the programme, Derek said Joe will leave Ireland with Nikki, 41, if he is successful in his bid to have his murder conviction overturned.
‘It would be very hard for him to hide. He’s a big lad, he sticks out like a sore thumb in some ways.
‘It could be a case he would head off somewhere for a few years and come back. But this is all hypothetical. But I don’t think Ireland would be a relaxing place for him to be’.
