7. Pamukkale\r
Located in Turkey, Pamukkale is all natural, a result of minerals deposited by water that flows through the area. If looks like a topographical map made out of icing. And in f, Pamukkale translates to “cotton castle” in Turkish, as if it couldnt look like more of an amazing place to begin with.\r

This Incan Citadel is better known to many as the infamous Machu Picchu. And while loads of tourists come from all over to visit the historical site in Peru, it costs many a pretty penny to do so. In accordance to popular archeological belief, the citadel was made for the Incan emperor Pachacuti, who lived during the mid 1400s. Its one of the worlds natural mosaics. Spotted Lake is located in British Columbia, Canada. What causes this interesting motif to take shape in the Similkameen Valley is the highly dense contents of minerals present in what is classified as a saline endorheic alkali lake. Any of the water present in the lake evaporates come summertime, which is what results in the green and blue spots that are visible. A lot of it is magnesium sulfate that crystallizes during the heat. The minerals are dense enough that its possible for people to walk through, however its not really recommended.\r

Youll be able to find Nemo here at the largest coral reef system in the world: Great Barrier Reef. The underwater wonder is located in the waters near Queensland, Australia. Impressively, the reef spans approximately 2,300 km or 1,400 miles, and is made up of nearly 3,000 individual coral reefs. You can even see this ocean formation from space. To protect and maintain the natural wonder of the reef, the Great Barrier Reef has restricted access as far as tourism and fishing goes. Whats even better is that instead of just weather conditions or humans making the coral system, the building of the reef is credited to billions of coral polyps. \r

That being said, its been around since its completion in 80 AD, with construction ually having started during the reign of Emperor Vespasian. Of course, the colosseum is a widely popular tourist destination to this day. But even back then, up to 800,000 people could fit into the colosseum and watch the events that unfolded there, namely the gladiator fights made famous in the modern age with films like Gladiator. One of the most interesting places in the world is a rice terrace located in the mountains of Ifugao in the Philippines. These 2,000 year old rice terraces were etched into the landscape by the indigenous people of the area. Known to many as the Banaue Rice Terraces, it is said that most of the amazing topographical carvings were done by hand, which means a lot of hard labor went into fashioning them into the sides of the mountains. Rice and other vegetables are still harvested from the Banaue Rice Terraces. \r

The construction of the Taj Mahal was completed by 1643, with work having started two years prior in 1632. If you couldnt tell, the mausoleum is made of marble, and inside, the tombs of Mumtaz Mahal and Shah Jahan sit beside each other in the lower level. What the emperor was going for was the mightiest testament of love for his wife. Centuries later, it seems he got just that.
